Stories offer unknown twists and turns, challenges, growth, and hope. We all have unique and complex stories that some days are going well and other days not so well. The question becomes, what do we do when we find ourselves at those moments in our story? I desire to walk alongside people to make meaning and increase understanding in their stories on a deeper level that allows people to keep moving forward and thrive as they write their story. As we do so, I desire to provide a safe space for healing, exploration and growth as you continue to write new chapters in your story.

When I’m not working, I am home spending time with my wife and three kids. As a family, we love to be outside. We enjoy camping, hiking, sitting around a fire and going to the beach. When I have spare time aside from working and spending time with family, I can be found fishing or playing any number of sports. I am also a devoted Michigan State fan – GO GREEN!

My Approach

Within counseling, there are many theories and approaches that can be used. In recognizing that people are unique, intricate and complex, I find myself primarily taking a person-centered and narrative approach to counseling. In doing so, we can explore your intricate and unique aspects and utilize your strengths as we work toward understanding your story and helping you write a beautiful story. I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and believe it can offer insight into our thoughts and behaviors. The beginning sessions will be spent getting to understand you and your story in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship as we move forward toward healing, change, and growth as you continue writing your story.

What you can expect

First and foremost, you and your story are cherished and respected. You will experience a safe and comfortable place for you to share and explore your story. You will experience unconditional positive regard and empathy as we work together. It takes courage to share vulnerable and intimate details about your life, and as you do, I promise to treat you and your story with respect, dignity and compassion. I will continuously be hopeful for you and with you, as you continue writing your story.
